Just to keep your attention while the remodel of the site is going on, I thought I would at least give you a taste of what "Redux" will be like. Here's an example of "more blogging," what I mentioned yesterday:
Hollywood movies are, by nature as well as definition, a truly American art form, like Jazz is. I try to catch the best of the latest, but I also watch each movie in my own library over and over, always getting more each time. In recent years I have availed myself of little more than movies and music, so memorable moments of both fill my head, and will fill my blogging when I'm on the subject.
I am now on one such re-watch of The Godfather trilogy. The author, Mario Puzo, states in one of the commentaries that the movie is not really about the Mafia, but about family. If it is, the statement it makes to me comes from a conclusion I reached during my career studies of, and work in, family science: no matter what else happens with a family, the family must exist for the needs of each member, and must not force its members to exist for the needs of the family. Messing this up always leads to tragedy. As art reflects life, one sees this truth in much of art. But let us always see the beauty of families when they don't mess it up so much. Then, individuals -- and then their families! -- grow to be so much more fully themselves, as they were created to be.
By the way, here are two "family" favorites that WILL be in my library. As true art, they illustrate my point extremely well!: the All In The Family TV Series (we watched the show while my wife was in labor with my first son, in 1980!), and the Family Guy Series (recommended for watching during labor, to speed delivery! :-P).
COOL, huh? :-)
I would really like your candid reactions and comments, starting today, so I can tweak -- all for you! Don't make me beg!!
That's about it for today, so while you're here, you can support my FREE efforts on your behalf by clicking on lots of ads and things (it's VERY supportive even if you never find anything you want!), sharing the site (top sharing link) or the post (after-each-post sharing link), leaving comments, "follow"ing, and spreading the word far and wide to all your people -- even by email. Have a great day enjoying the world's coolest stuff!
